Based in Kensington, Maryland

Tara Andris is an oil painter whose work calls the viewer to observe her subjects, primarily skies and landscapes, with fresh wonder.  Continuing in the historical practice of using metal leaf in paintings, Tara begins each painting with a gilded base that eventually shapes the negative space between strokes of oil paint. Time intensive and highly detailed, this process reflects the preciousness of sublime natural moments.

In addition to her studio practice, Tara has held roles in museum education at top institutions nationally, and her artwork is represented in collections all over the world, including in embassies globally through the Art in Embassies program.
